Sam Howard Fellowship

Eligibility

To be considered for the Samuel H. Howard MBA Endowment Fellowship, the student must:
 
bulletBe admitted to the College of Business MBA program at Tennessee State University as a full-time student.
 
bulletHave satisfied all admission requirements before the fellowship is awarded.
 
bulletDemonstrate considerable promise in the administration of business.
 
bulletBe willing to stimulate interest in improving the economic performance of the community, city and state.
 
bulletDemonstrate research skills necessary to address economic, social, moral and political problems.
 
bulletDemonstrate strong leadership abilities.
 
bulletHave outstanding communication skills.
 
bulletContinue to perform as a high achiever and maintain high moral character at the University, have no disciplinary record and no arrest.
 
bulletPerform as a high academic achiever and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.
 
bulletHave worked for at least two years in a corporate environment before being accepted into the MBA program.

bulletAgree to enter into his or her chosen field within one year after graduating from the program.
 
bulletSubmit in writing a 500-word essay discussing the purpose for obtaining an MBA degree and discussing the criteria listed above.
 
bulletBe a United States citizen.

Application & Awards Procedures

bulletApplicants shall complete and submit an application for a fellowship to the dean of the College of Business. This form may be duplicated or reproduced, but its content may not be altered.
 
bulletThe donor may choose to interview final candidates for the fellowship.
 
bulletFunds shall be available during fall registration.
